Hey All,
For those of you that haven't attended one of the local past Peace Rallies yet, I'd like to share a little about my past & the previous events that have led up to 2010's Love Fest in the Midwest.
The year was 2007 and I was trying to discover how I could help raise the conciousness and awareness of those around me. I decided that my local community was a great place to start spreading joy.
Then I asked myself, "What common entity helps unite people?" The obvious answer to that... MUSIC. The wheels started turning and I began planning Omaha's first Peace Rally. The event was held May 20th, 2008 at Elmwood Park. Over 1,000 people showed up and the event went off without a hitch.
With the stomping success of the first rally and with the ever-encouraging support from my local community, I was anxious to host another event. Right away I started planning for my next peace rally, "Gathering of Righteousness." In hopes of attracting even more people to this event than the Peace Rally, I decided to search for a new venue. It was concluded that the Gathering of Righteousness would be held Sept. 27th,2009 in Omaha's Gene Leahy Mall. I'd say the event was about as well received as the first, with about 1,000+ attendees coming and going throughout the day. Let me tell you, there was quite the party on those slides! It was truly fantastic to see all the people walking around the Old Market stumble upon the event.
Learning from my first two events, I realized for the next rally that I could use some support from local sponsors. With the support of Advanced Hydroponics and Illuzion Glass, Peace Rally 2009 was held on April 20th in Downtown Omaha's Heartland of America Park. It was my special honor to expose attendees that special day to my favorite local professor, Doug Wagner, who spoke about Drug Awareness.
I took a short hiatus from planning the next event until my baby boy, Driver, was born June 12, 2009. With the joy & innocence of my little one inspiring me every day, I'm more motivated than ever to put on a rally. Driver and I are excited to meet all of you at the Love Fest. Thank you all so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate your interest and support.
Sincerely,
Julie Smith
